| The Mayan Riviera offers some of the greatest diving
in the world. Just outside our dive centers is the second
largest barrier reef in the world, going from the Yucatan
all the way to Costa Rica. Vibrant fish,
colorful corals and other interesting marine
life such as the graceful sea turtle, tarpons, eels
and large schools of Caribbean fish. The warm
clear Caribbean Sea makes this a perfect dive destination
year round.

The Abyss Dive Center has operated in the area for over
7 years and we know all the best
dive sites in Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. Fortunately, we
never have to go far to reach our dive sites; there are
plenty of good sites only a short boat ride
from our dive centers. Check out our cool interactive Dive
Site Map with photos and further descriptions of each
site. If you dive with us in Tulum you may get our exclusive
view of the Ruins from the ocean’s edge, a bonus we
like to throw in for our divers.
Diving in Playa del Carmen is a relaxing experience.
You just go with the comfortable current past tropical
fish, beautiful corals, huge crabs, stalking morays and
whatever else happens to come your way that day. The dive
boat picks you up wherever your group surfaces. EASY!
After the dive a cold cerveza awaits you at any of
the beach front bars which happen to be right where we park
our boats. It's the perfect dive vacation! You may
find leaving difficult. If you need help coming up with
an excuse for staying an extra week or two, just ask.

The ocean provides us with great diving for divers
of all levels. Good visibility and comfortable
temperatures (averaging about 26C/78F) make it perfect for
inexperienced divers to get comfortable quick
or advanced divers to probe the depths. Everyone loves the
drift dives so common here. Most sites have a steady, northerly
current that carries you gently past the reef, so it's easy
to relax and enjoy as the scenery moves by.
For those looking to enhance their dive vacation, have a
look at the cenotes, limestone caverns only found in this
area of Mexico.
